Managing Skin Toxicities in the Cancer Patient

Educational Objectives:

This program will provide the oncology nurses the knowledge to:
1.Differentiate the pathophysiology of skin toxicities unique to chemotherapy, targeted, and radiation therapies.

2.Identify associated risk factors and promote preventive strategies to minimize risk factors or severity of skin toxicities.

3.Promote patient compliance to treatment through patient education and early symptom identification and reporting.

4.Describe assessment parameters and grading criteria to accurately document skin toxicities.

5.Implement appropriate interventions recommended for the corresponding CTCAE grade of toxicity.

To be awarded continuing education credit, the following requirements must be met:
•Signed in and present for the duration of the program
•Participation in the activity learning assessment(s)
•Submission of Activity Evaluation

Accreditation/Credit Designation through the
Oncology Nursing Society (ONS)
5.0 credit hours
